Lead with service during national volunteer month.
April is National Volunteer Month, and around Matchbook that tends to bring an air of excitement. We celebrate all the volunteers who dedicate their time, talent, and treasure to worthy causes.
As a company, we are committed to making our community, and when possible, the world, a better place. We’re believers in the phrase “leave it better than you found it,” and practice that daily in our work. We intentionally choose to partner with companies and organization who are purpose-focused and reflect those same values of improving the community.
Over half of our agency volunteers each month with an Indianapolis-based nonprofit organization, and many serve on the Board of Directors for worthy organizations. Some of those include:
- Scouts BSA
- Junior League of Indianapolis
- Ovar’Coming Together
- Survivors Teaching Students
- Rotary Club of Indianapolis
- Playworks Indiana
- March of Dimes
- Ben’s Ranch
- AIGA Indy
- Women and Hi Tech
- Arts Council of Indianapolis
According to a 2018 study conducted by the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, nonprofits in Indianapolis are becoming increasingly dependent on volunteers. About two-fifths of Indy nonprofits have no paid staff members. Almost all use volunteers (other than board members), and of those that do, three quarters say volunteers are essential or very important to their organization.
We encourage you to get out and volunteer not just this month, but year-round!
